Origins
In the summer of 2006, 4 local young professionals in the City of Pella were asked to start a group to focus on social networking in the community for the age range 20s-30s. This came about after a survey taken from the community showed the need for events for those after college and in the work force, that didn't focus specifically on families. The organization has grown rapidly and now has several hundred members.
Mission
YP of Pella serves as a catalyst to grow personal and community connections for young professionals; making Pella a better place to live, work and play.
Goals
- Sharing input with the community about what young professionals are looking for
- Social and business networking
- Educational opportunities for young professionals
- Active volunteerism with the Pella area community
Structure
The organization is led by a board of ten members minimum, all between the ages of 21-39. Within the board, there are the offices of president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and coordinators.

- Monthly social mixers at local venues
- Volunteer opportunities through local organizations
- Business recruitment and promotion for the city
- Promotion of cultural and sports events
- Sports Leagues

Becoming a Member of YP of Pella
